Job Description
The Field Service Technician will be responsible for trouble shooting, repair, upgrading of existing thermal processing equipment, and the startup of equipment systems built by Onex. The service technician must maintain good written and oral communication with the customer throughout the build/service process to ensure that the job scope is completed. The field service technician must be able to work with the Onex team: engineering, fabrication, refractory, electric/controls, administration departments to complete jobs in the field and the shop. The service technician will be responsible, but not limited to:
- Develop, direct, and perform preventative maintenance programs for customers
- Must be able to read and understand plumbing, mechanical, electrical and PLC logic prints to trouble shoot customer equipment
- Create, develop, and maintain system settings documentation, both paper and paperless files
- Work with management to ensure quoted job scope is completed in the time and materials quoted
- Identify areas of cost savings and improve on efficiency
- Must be able to lead other co-workers to complete assigned tasks
- Must be able to use test equipment to measure flows, signals and temperatures to troubleshoot equipment
- Responsible for commissioning and troubleshooting the startup of new equipment
- Must be able to install electrical, conduit and wire ways
- Must be able to install pneumatic and gas piping
- Must be able to assembly and install electrical panels
- complete service reports, spread sheets and compile job costs using existing company documentation
Skills and Qualifications:
- High school diploma and min 5 years’ experience in combustion service
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
- A good understanding of combustion controls
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work independently, with good customer service skills
- Working Knowledge of NFPA 86, NFPA 70E, AND AMS 2750E
- Job requires travel
- Ability to work in different industrial environments with extreme conditions
- OSHA 10 training
- Ability to wear appropriate PPE I.E. a respirator
- Perform all assigned planned maintenance on customer lift trucks
- Must have a working knowledge of PLC software and communications with laptop to PLC’s and HMI’s
