ONEX Expands Capacity with New Facility

Renovated Facility to Boost Precast Production by 30%

Erie, Pennsylvania, November 5, 2024 - ONEX, Inc, a Pennsylvania forge and furnace manufacturer, is excited to announce the opening of a new 25,000-square-foot facility in Erie, Pennsylvania. This new facility will house the combustion and construction business segments, allowing the Bacon Street headquarters to focus solely on precast operations.

ONEX designs and builds engineered precast shapes and complete industrial furnace solutions. Its precast shapes are essential components in metal forges, smelting metals, and other high-temperature processes. ONEX’s industrial furnace solutions range from retrofitting existing furnaces and boilers to designing entirely new systems tailored to customers’ needs. This expansion reflects ONEX’s commitment to customers through growth and innovation, enabling the company to scale operations in refractory construction, industrial furnace services, and precast production.

The new facility includes state-of-the-art manufacturing cells designed to significantly boost its production efficiency. With a 15-ton overhead bridge crane and a 100-foot runway, this setup streamlines workflow by tripling previous lifting capacity, enabling larger furnace components to be safely pre-assembled and welded on-site, reducing time spent on installation at the customer job site. This additional space is projected to increase precast production output by 30%.

Patrick Laskey

“The additional space is a monumental step for the business. It will allow our teams to work safely, be more efficient in the work we accomplish, and ultimately allow us to better support our customers' growing trust in ONEX”

ONEX President, Patrick Laskey.

Expanding Precast Operations & Employment Opportunities

As ONEX prioritizes customer success, the company has experienced rapid growth, necessitating the new facility to meet increasing demand for custom industrial furnace solutions and refractory construction services. This expansion will enable ONEX to continue to perform safe work, hire more skilled craftsmen, while further enhancing the high-quality support and care provided throughout the project build process. Additionally, the new space will increase ONEX’s ability to handle  the growing volume of orders, ensuring timely delivery of cutting-edge, American-made industrial furnaces and refractory solutions.

“This facility is a launchpad for new opportunities, especially as we expand our precast operations, which we plan to brand as 'Precast Division' and the new facility will be known as the ‘Combustion & Construction’ Division. We’re excited for the future and the value this brings to our customers and the market.” said Patrick Laskey.

Market Demand and Industry Growth

The growth in U.S. infrastructure and manufacturing is driving a surge in demand for refractory solutions. Market analysts project that the global refractory market will grow from $33.2 billion to $42.3 billion by 2028, with a significant portion of that growth concentrated in the United States. This trend underscores the importance of ONEX’s expanded capabilities.

“With the increase in steel production and the need for more industry supporting our infrastructure expansions, we anticipate strong growth in 2025 and beyond,” said Laskey. “Our new facility ensures we’re well positioned for the growing market demand.”
